FCSS Association of Alberta
Wainwright and District FCSS is a member agency of the FCSS Association of Alberta. The purpose of the association is to support member agencies and to serve as a link to the Provincial Ministry of Seniors, Community and Social Services.
The FCSS Act (RSA 2000 Chapter F-3) provides the framework by which Family and Community Support Services programs operate. The Act outlines what can and cannot be funded by FCSS.
The intention of the FCSS grant is to foster the development of services and programming of a preventative nature.

POWER OF PREVENTION
Wainwright & District Family & Community Support Services has been providing programs and services since 1973, we just celebrated 50 years in Wainwright & Area. We provide universal programs, meaning there is something for everyone, no referral needed, just pop on in coffee is always on!
A little more about us:
Who: WDFCSS is a provincial and municipal funded program to develop and deliver locally driven preventative social initiatives to enhance the well-being of individuals, families, and communities. WDFCSS is governed by a Board of Directors with representation from Council members from the Town of Wainwright, MD of Wainwright, Irma, Chauvin, and Edgerton.
What: We provide programs and services in Wainwright, MD of Wainwright, Irma, Chauvin and Edgerton for all individuals, families, youth, seniors & community. WDFCSS is a hub for information, referral, and support. Specific programs and services include Short-term solution focussed counselling, community programming including presentations, education, and awareness, promoting intellectual, social, emotional, and physical development. Living @ Home Program assists seniors to remain living independently in their own home offering light housekeeping services, assistance filling out provincial and federal forms such as Old Age Security, CPP, Tax Clinic for low-income seniors and community members. WDFCSS provides special projects funding to agencies, groups, schools meeting specific criteria though an application process. WDFCSS building lower level is the home for the Family Resource Network providing programs and services for families with children 0-18.
Where: 902-5th Avenue, Wainwright AB (1 block west of the lights on Main Street) Outreach to the village offices.
Why: In accordance with our funding agreement FCSS’s services must align with the Provincial Prevention Strategies; Promote and encourage active engagement in the community, foster a sense of belonging, promote social inclusion, develop, and maintain healthy relationships, enhance, and access to social supports and develop and strengthen skills that build resilience.
How: Through community conversations, observations, meetings, and feedback from program evaluation programs and services are planned, developed, delivered, and evaluated to best meet the needs for community members.
